Cyclones Triumph Over Hornets in Thrilling Series

 

ST. LOUIS, MO – In a riveting three-game series at Busch Stadium, the Kansas City Cyclones showcased their resilience and determination, taking two out of three games from the St. Louis Hornets. The series was a spectacle of excellent pitching, clutch hitting, and dramatic moments that kept fans on the edge of their seats.

April 4, 2024 – The series opener set the tone with a classic pitcher’s duel. Kansas City's Jimmy Watson and St. Louis’s Johnny Robinson both delivered masterful performances, keeping the game scoreless through seven innings.

In the top of the eighth, the Cyclones broke the deadlock. Alex Peplow ignited the rally with a single, followed by Bobby Kulak’s clutch RBI single, scoring Peplow. Tim Murray’s sacrifice fly brought home Adam Jay, giving the Cyclones a 2-0 lead.

 

St. Louis mounted a comeback in the bottom of the ninth. Victor Navarrete’s sacrifice fly scored John Rhodes, but Kevin Crain shut the door, preserving a 2-1 victory for Kansas City.

April 5, 2024 – Pete Myers was the hero of Game 2, delivering two towering home runs that lifted the Cyclones to a 5-2 victory. Myers struck first with a solo shot in the second inning and followed it up with another blast in the third.

St. Louis responded with a sacrifice fly from Bill O'Sheehan in the second and an RBI single by Luis Monteso in the sixth, cutting the deficit to 3-2. However, Alex Peplow’s two-run homer in the seventh inning sealed the game for Kansas City.

Luis Monteso’s groundout in the fourth added another run, and Octavio Medina’s RBI single in the seventh capped the scoring for St. Louis. The Cyclones managed a single run in the fifth from Tim Murray, but it wasn't enough.

Robert Bradford was dominant on the mound for the Hornets, striking out nine over seven innings of work.
